Electrical 2

Electrical

Oct 31 (Day 22)

Today was spent hanging drywall, taping and mudding. Tomorrow will be sanding and maybe thinking about renting a hopper to texture the ceiling. This was the first Saturday in 3 weeks we didn't go to Home Depot.

Oct 30 (Days 21)

So Friday was short. I worked at school and Jennifer cooked so we could eat. Then we had to swing by the office to give the apartment notice that we were moving out soon. Once at the house, I mowed the yard and did some weedeating, while Jennifer taped our master bedroom off and began to paint. I have to admit... I was tired, I mean really tired. I was walking around in circles trying to figure out what I had to do next after I finished the yard. I couldn't seem to get it into gear to hand the drywall. I chiseled some of the wood away to make room for the wires hanging on the wall. Jennifer was painting and then came in and recognized I was tired and suggested we go and get some rest. She is so sweet. Anyways, we decided I would help her finish off one of the walls in the bedroom before we left. She made some good progress and we're really pleased with the color.

Day 17

Today saw the completion of hanging the drywall on the ceiling and continued electrical work. We still need to hang drywall on the new walls and part of the wall in the kitchen. We are so grateful for Mom & Ron coming down and helping us. The weekend was super tiring and we need to take a couple days rest. Next weekend we will continue more.

Day 16

Sunday saw more electrical work. At least now, most of the labeling and directing of the wires is done. We also started to put up drywall on the ceiling. Jennifer did a great job driving the Truck with all the supplies to and from Home Depot. We finished the walls to create an entry-way from the front door. Today will be shorter but I hope that we can get some (if not all) of the drywall up before my Mom & Ron leave.

Day 15

Ok, I'm getting ready to go for day 16, so this will be short. We continued wiring, tearing down and started building up. Today we hope to finish wiring and get drywall up on the ceiling and the walls.

Day 14 (Oct 23rd)

My Mom & Ron arrived last night and we went to the house and took a look around to see what needed to be done. Today was spent with the sledge hammer, crowbar and screwdriver. Sounds great huh? We started with a kitchen that had the appliances, sink and the remnants of a pantry. Not to mention a dropped ceiling (for no real reason) and a light box enclosed within it. So we tore it all down and got it all removed, except for part of the pantry that we thought was structural support until the end. Jennifer met with the cabinet designer at Home Depot and now we have an idea of what our kitchen will look like. It will be nice but there is lots more work ahead. So tomorrow we will tear down the remainder of the pantry and the electrical will be re-routed. Hopefully, it goes smoothly and we can hang the sheetrock on the ceiling so we aren't looking into our attic anymore : )

Day 11

Work after Work...

Professional measurer came out to map out our new kitchen so we can buy the proper cabinets and install them ourselves. Meanwhile, I piddled with things and then assembled the weed-eater. The guy was done within an hour or so. Just before he left Jennifer showed up and then we got started. I started to clean up the yard with the new weed-eater. It works great! Jennifer helped me find all the sprinkler heads so I wouldn't chop one up with the lawn mower like last week : ) Which by the way... Jennifer replaced and fixed by herself as I was weed-eating. I was impressed and proud. Then Jennifer started to sand the ceiling (another dirty job) and I began mowing which, long story short, led to the mower stopping on us. Only thing I can think of going wrong, besides the gas, was the fuse. The sun was going down, we were getting tired and the fuse had to wait until another night. At least the backyard was the only part not to get mowed.

No Pictures today.

Wishing some little elves would come into our house while we are asleep and fix everything like they did for the shoemaker. I won't hold my breath.

Day 10

Go to the house to do some work after work. Turned out that the ceiling paint didn't take in some areas so I couldn't proceed forward. I will need to sand and/or put primer on it before we paint. Something to do tomorrow... A little frustrating but I found other things to do. Our master closet needed to be cleared out so that we can put flooring down and re-arrange the shelves. I found a Heap of cat hair and a visor that I think could be very fashionable if I just bedazzled it a bit. The closets were cleared out, doors off and cleaned up. Progress. The closet with the carpet is our master and the after photo has the glass door in it, which is next to our closet.

Day 9 (5th Workday) Attic Photos

These hopefully will help us determine how to approach our dropped ceiling. The attic shots are looking into the kitchen and are zoomed in on where the trusses meet up at the wall/ceiling that bisects the roof arch in half. You can see where the ceiling drops from the trusses in the last 2 pictures.
